Charlotte Info

‘I Love You, Miss Robot’ – The Buggles

Rang Jayne to ask her about Charlotte. Jayne told me Kirsty would know about her so gave me Kirsty’s number. I rang Kirsty. She’s going to get some Charlotte info for me.

[About 9 years ago:
In 1976, my second dad, Paul, got a job as a policeman. With it came a large and modern house. We had been living in Rossington, Doncaster, but that March we went to live in Nostall, a small and pretty village near Wakefield. Moving there felt like the clouds lifting and the sun coming out. I enjoyed a brilliant childhood here, with lots of friends and fields and woods and trees. Things at home were better now, and my memories are mostly happy. Here, I discovered my true sexuality, playing ‘you show me yours’ with Mandy Wellington and Kirsty Mullen, and ‘True, Dare, Double-Dare, Kiss, Command or Promise’ with all the other kids. Here, we gained a cat called Twiggy, who quickly gave birth to a litter of kittens. In spite of our best efforts, most of them died on the day they were born, but Casper and Sooty survived. The former we gave to a neighbour, the latter stayed with us, and would live at eight different addresses over the next 13 years – Ritcherd 1990]

Charlotte Vine

'The Robots' – Kraftwerk

Went up town (Wisbech) with Dave.

When I came home, I watched most of Doctor Who: Revelation Of The Daleks (Part Two) on the shitty portable.

Tonight, I went to the Fire Station Disco in Wisbech. There, I started talking to Jayne again. I danced with a girl called Charlotte Vine. She’s lovely: tall, curvy, and brunette with bobbed hair and a chequered dress. I asked her out.

Still no answer. No address!

GENERAL COMMENT

NAME
RITCHERD JONES
FORM 24
NO. OF TIMES LATE 4
NO. OF TIMES ABSENT 10

If Ritcherd is to make the most of his abilities, he must embark on a campaign of self-organization. He is a polite and cheerful member of the form.

Mr Foyle
FORM TEACHER

Quite an able boy who is not using his ability to the full.
YEAR HEAD

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

ATTAINMENT C-
EFFORT D+
Much more effort needed, far too much messy unfinished work. Below average for the set.

MATHEMATICS

ATTAINMENT
D+
EFFORT C-
Progress has been very slow – marks only barely enough to keep him in this set. Ritcherd at times seems in a world of his own. I look for big signs of improvement after Easter.

HISTORY
ATTAINMENT C-
EFFORT C
When Ritcherd puts in some effort his work is of a reasonable standard. However much more effort is needed to make sure that work is finished.

METALWORK

ATTAINMENT
C
EFFORT C+
Rather slow but hopeful.

WOODWORK
ATTAINMENT C
EFFORT C
A little more effort needed.

FRENCH
ATTAINMENT B-
EFFORT B
Ritcherd’s spoken French is good. He is a little disorganised with regard to books, however. Most of the time he works steadily and with interest.

P.E.
ATTAINMENT D
EFFORT D
I have been disappointed with the irregularity of Ritcherd’s efforts this year.

POTTERY
ATTAINMENT C+
EFFORT C-
Ritcherd has made only a fair start this term. He must make a greater effort. Homework poor.

ENGLISH

ATTAINMENT A
EFFORT A
Ritcherd has undoubted ability in this subject and has no problems with basic English techniques. His work is skilful and imaginative and very often ‘out of this world’ – literally.

R.E.

ATTAINMENT
C+
EFFORT C-

Although Ritcherd makes a reasonable contribution to lessons his written work often lets him down. He is much too forgetful about handing in his book – he needs a more disciplined attitude to work.

GEOGRAPHY

ATTAINMENT D
EFFORT C

Test work 23%. Set average 28%. A capable lad who can do much better. He must apply himself to his studies in a more positive manner next term.

SCIENCE

ATTAINMENT C
EFFORT C

Ritcherd seemed to get off to rather a shaky start this year, mainly due to his frequently forgetting his exercise book. However, he has settled down and his progress has turned out to be good.

MUSIC

ATTAINMENT B
EFFORT A

Ritcherd works hard and always produces work of good quality.

Nine Years From Now: 17/03/94

NINE YEARS FROM NOW…

'Tonight, Lilith and I went to see Who Is Jon Pertwee, the Jon Pertwee talk/show thing at St AlbansMaltings Arts Theatre.

I think I originally wanted to go because he was one of the Doctors Who, but after seeing him, I am just overwhelmed at how much I now really like him as a man. What an excellent bloke and what an excellent life!

Good to hear him say ‘frigging’ at least four times, nice to hear how he smacked a cane into the face of a school bully, giving him 14 stitches, and also to hear him say of the Daleks: ‘Go up a flight of stairs and you’ve got ‘em screwed!’ He said a few sad words about Tom Baker’s distancing himself from the other Doctor actors, too.

I’d like also to note that Jeremy Bentham (who Flash and I met in 1990) was in attendance. I note this because he gave me so much pleasure as a child when I read his features in Doctor Who Weekly.

Lili and I had a splendid evening.

JON PERTWEE IS SKILL!

I wish I had my videos…'

Doctor In Distress

‘Easy Lover’ – Phillip Bailey and Phil Collins

Went round town with Dave, then I went to Jayne’s and watched Doctor Who: Timelash (Part Two), which seemed all right, but didn’t make much sense because I didn’t see Part One.

[THE ‘DOCTOR IN DISTRESS’ SINGLE WAS RELEASED AS PART OF THE ‘SAVE DOCTOR WHO’ CAMPAIGN…

Worst record ever made? – Ritcherd, 16th March 1994]

Out of courtesy, I told Jayne I was going to be spending an evening with Tia Purdey (at her request) on the school trip to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Fermoy Centre in King’s Lynn next week. I told her because, yes, I do fancy Tia, but I intend to stay loyal to Jayne and don’t want anything getting back to her that isn’t true. She seemed fine about it.

I want to hear ‘Yankee Rose’, the 1979 single by Holly Johnson.

I’m still waiting for my Ro-Busters book to arrive.

Timelash

'The Power of Love' - Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Went to the fair.  Again!  With Dave Cooper, Angus Littlejohn and Brett.  It was a laugh!  Dave had a busted leg and we kept squashing it on the ski-jump.  Littlejohn kept getting elbowed in the face on the Cyclone.

Bought 'The Power of Love' 7-inch by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

Went to Jayne's for tea.  Saw a bit of Doctor Who: Timelash.  It was all right but we were more interested in kissing each other and me rubbing her fanny through her jeans.
